Eureka
So we topped at 80k and got a motel to charge our batteries in Eureka. I was not willing to travel another 40k in the early evening.
Anyhoo we are going to Humbolt State park about 80 k down the 101 today. I will also add that our campsites cost $5 a person when you set up camp in the hiker/biker section.
It was nice to have a bed and leave today with batteries charged, literally and figuratively.
Let's go ride bikes!

Redwoods y'all
So we endured a series of climbs over a spam of many miles on our way to Prairie Creek campground. Without a doubt one of the hardest days of my life. We said farewell to a few friends and made the ride of 100k to just north of Orick (Oreq) to only find that the only market was 6 miles south. So 12 miles added to the 100k pushed it to about 120 k.
We are currently at a laundromat in Eureka Ca. As our gear is a little dirty. I wore the same shorts jersey and socks for the last 4 rides. A little science experiment if you will. The lady next to me just shot her pants. What an asshole.
We stopped in a fishing community where I had some wicked chowder and fish and chips. The place was called Trinidad.
We have amassed 80k so far today and with this break we might be able to make it to humbolt state park, another 40 k away.
I believe we are taking a day off tomorrow as our schedule will have us arriving in San Fran next Wednesday. Which is cool but too many days there.
I would post photos to this but my iPhone is not compatible. I will link my flicker account now.
Talk soon

Villages beach to humbug mountain to Harris beach
So strategizing posts, uploads, battery charging and basic contact with family members has proved a little difficult. We are coping.
Monday we stayed at villages beach after our first day of 140 k. We then rode 80k to humbug mountain. There were 7 of us riding and passing each other throughput the day. There was the patriarch named Gary who had an answer for everything, Jason from Santa Monaco who was a care giver for people with mental disabilities, his bud the parole officer from Denver, and a fantastic couple from Boston named Chris and Cate. We had lots of laughs with these pepple and shared a lot with them. However today proves to be the day we split ways.
We arrived in Humbug Mountain under very windy conditions set up camp and headed to the beach. The ocean was frigid and I equate the temperature to putting the dock in during the last week of April. We jumped in and body surfed any how.
Yesterday we had a few climbs and another 80 k to Harris beach. We saw breath taking views and great ocean front properties, many were for sale. Coincidentally we travelled along the Tsunami danger zone. Weeeeeeeeee.
Andrew and I had a beer on the beach and Escher the sunset, I took some great shots and got a video. We ate Johnsonville brats and hit the hay at 10. we are now charging and wifi' ing at mcdonalds. Mmmmmmmm protein.
We will enter California today and the much anticipated RedWoods. Heavy climbing today. Yeah!

Oregon(e)
Day one of the ride provided many experiences. Saturday evening we set up camp in Florence, had a hike to find a huge dune. We climbed it and saw very detailed constellations. However we had left our cameras at the site and only had canned beers in hand. That was for us. Sunday was overcast, tire down camp and hit the road. Our goal for the day was Bandon, 130km. We started at high pace and felt great. At the 80k point we decided to take the scenic route which was called the Seven Devils. Appropriately named for the 7 major climbs. It nearly killed us with our full packs. At the end there was a pay off of the best downhill of my life. Awesome. As we approached Bandon we grabbed food and continued to Bandon State Park only to find that no camping was allowed. A simple logistical problem that could have been avoided... We then back tracked 10 k to Bullards Beach State park. No biggie, learning experience haha. Total distance day 1: 140 km. Today we have a flatland 50k to do. Should be fun. Also I blew a tire at the 105 k point. At a diner on wifi and we have to get going. There is a group of 5 people taking our route and we have crossed paths a few times, fun and good souls. Also sat around with a couple from Calgary. Talked about the Bow building, gas and their Mayor. It was a full day to say the least. Cheers guys.

Trip amended
As the train pulled into Eugene- Sprinfield we realized that we had enough time to catch a bus to Florence Oregon. It is a clean and calculated way to start this trip. I can't stress the quality of travel on Amtrak, I feel refreshed and relaxed. Seeking sponsorship.
Vancouver to Seattle to Eugene
We woke up at 4:00am today to trek our boxed bikes and gear on to a bus bound for Seattle. Last night we were spoiled by Dawn's sumptuous banquet and Theresa's awesome homemade apple pie. We had a lot of laughs and met some old friends and new. A great farewell treat indeed.
After seamlessly arriving in Seattle we borded an Amtrak to get to Eugene to commence our ride.
At this very moment we are just entering Olympua,WA and travel by train is civilized to say the least.
The plan for today is to assmble our bikes and get a quick 40k in this afternoon.
